Coordination of the resources for gamma-ray spectroscopy in Europe

The participants in the network provide jointly the GAMMAPOOL equipment. Representatives from the countries owning the equipment form a Steering Committee (SC). The SC has two meetings per year. Representatives from the laboratories hosting the equipment for a given period are invited to the meetings as necessary.

The Steering Committee elects a chairperson and a vice-chairperson on a biannual basis. The chairperson acts as contact person for the collaborations requesting the use of the resources. The SC initiates a call for proposals (deadline 1st July every year), evaluates the proposals and decides on the deployment of the equipment. It coordinates the campaigns in order to make the best possible use of the equipment and to maximise the scientific output. The committee ensures that the principal criterion for the deployment of the resources is the scientific merit.
